Noel Chomyn: A really nice hotel in a great central location close to everything in the centre of Arequipa but in the city's quiet historic hotel district away from the noise when you want to sleep. Comfortable beds, great showers, and friendly staff, plus they work with a tour agency that is well priced so you can easily join smaller bilingual group tours without having to spend time shopping the travel agencies. The views of the volcanoes from the apartment balcony are especially impressive.We had zero problems with noise over four nights and while some of the gates to the neighborhood lock early, we found the gate on Bolognesi was open a little later and earlier while the bottom gate where vehicles access the area was open at all times day or night and was where you get picked up for tours, plus there's a large supermarket a block away for stocking up on water &etc. If we were to return to Arequipa we would stay here again without hesitation.

However, there's some things that really annoyed me, listed below from most to least infuriatingWiFi is so incredibly bad. Just terrible. Takes 5-10 minutes to upload a small 1 Mb image, and no holding your phone next to the router doesn't do anything. Buy a SIM card with a LOT of data, you won't be using WiFi here, it's literally just there so they can say "yes, we do provide free internet"There's no heater. There's also no heat insulation so it gets pretty cold depending on the time of year. Bring some comfy extra layers to sleep in. The door to the balcony basically has slits for wind to blow through. At least give me slightly thicker comforters as a bare minimum?Speaking of insulation, there's no sound insulation either. The windows are always slightly cracked and there's gaps in the door panel leading to the balcony. You WILL need earplugs, especially since there's a car in the neighborhood that have this obnoxious alarm that goes off with the slightest sound. Every other car here is straight piped and has no muffler so it's basically just constant car alarms all the time, don't expect a break. On trash days you'll be woken up to a lovely rendition of Under the Sea blaring from the garbage truck for some reasonA lot of the reception staff doesn't speak English. Which is fine, Peru isn't an English speaking country. But in a touristy area where all my online interactions and transactions with them were done in English it was kinda annoying to find out that nope turns out I would need to use my translator app after allYou have to get buzzed in to enter the hotel so you're basically at the whims of if there's someone working the front desk or not (though I think this may just be the norm here seeing as any hotel that does leave their doors open has 4 or 5 guards standing there). Usually there is but sometimes they go off to do something and you'll just have to wait on the bench. Also the gates to the neighborhood get locked at night so if you have to be picked up for a Colca Canyon tour for example, you have to exit through the pedestrian gate (yes it took me a long time to figure out) and only some of the pedestrian gates are left unlocked

Breakfast was also very nice and complete with fresh juices, eggs, fruit, freshly baked bread, Avocado, pancakes, etc. The area for us was good, it was close to the main plaza without being right on it, which we prefer.
