Micki Sievers: Delicious restaurant that explores traditional food! Each dish was incredible and the chef clearly loves cuisine! Very welcoming restaurant with a great view!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Psicolomana: Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Brandy Jackson: Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Arequipa. The service is unmatched. Walter truly cares about your experience. You've got to try to warm ceviche! Delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, and the best sangria I've had in my entire life.Walter made us feel right at home! My husband asked him how did he make his food with no oil and he gave us a tour of the kitchen! I felt the love 3I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.
Pamela Sanchez: Super super rich food, an unforgettable experienceNot so comfortable prices but of course it's worth it
Dana Sture: This was not just a meal but an experience!Found this place by accident but this was one of the best experiences in Peru. The chef Walter was so friendly and you could feel his love for food. He alos onvited us to his kitchen to have a look. The food was just amazing. We have had 8 Ceviches in Peru before but the river lobster Ceviche was someting next level amazing.Would recomemd anyone who want to feal the heart of Peruvian cooking.
Beto F.B.: Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5More
Aaron Benham: An amazing Peruvian experience. Powerful flavours and one of the most welcoming restaurants I have ever been to- even got a tour of the kitchen to see how things are made. Would recommend the warm passion fruit and shrimp ceviche.
Mario Mora: It was an amazing experience eating in this place, Walter is such a kin owner assisting all our questions himself and even sharing tips from his cuisine with us.The food is absolutely delicious. We ate 5 dishes (the Alpaca, Cuy and Ceviche dishes, Chupe and Rocottos) and a dessert. He prepared the way people ate them before the Inca Empire conquered in a beautiful rustic kitchen using resipes as in the ancient times. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you visit Arequipa.
Paolo Casanova: The best experience to seal the great visit to Greater Arequipa, ancestral food and the joy of being in the right place.
Ma Ma: Beware! Owner may try to bring you the most overpriced items on the menu that you never even ordered then try to guilt trip you into paying for what you never ordered. We walked out once we figured out what he was trying to do. Even before that, we were planning to leave because everything was priced far too high. No idea on the food quality because we left before it came to the table
Daulton Jennings: Quick Review:1. Personalized and immaculate service.2. Incredibly delicious and above all UNIQUELY flavored food.3. Walter is an incredibly hospitable owner (He will give you a tour of the kitchen before you eat and show you the ingredients he will be using).More than anything, this is not a restaurant, because it not only gives amazing food, but an amazing experience.Long version:If you are looking for a great view of the the plaza while you eat delicious food, you will not get what you are looking for by following the "jaladores" in the Plaza to their half-baked picanterias. However, you can have a great view, great food (unique food you won't get anywhere else in the world mind you), and on top of that, a great experience. It's like a tour you might take to Colca Canyon, except your guide is Chef Walter, and the experience is pre-incan food. Here he serves the origins of Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, Causa, and the best Chicha I have ever tasted. The flavors are so much more complex than any Peruvian food you've tasted to date. And the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get and the experience that comes with it. If you come to Arequipa, and you don't take a culinary tour with Walter through the history and flavors of Pre-Incan food, have you really been to Arequipa? Or did you just take pictures for Instagram? You HAVE to eat at this restaurant, it is unforgettable.
David Stibor: Tak dobře jsme si dlouho nepochutnali, konečně jsme se dočkali místní kuchyně, kam se i můžete podívat jak vaří!! ;)
Alejandro Mamani Andia: Horrible place, they charged me 18 soles for a glass of frozen lemonade. never come back
Augusto Galindo: Excellent food and atmosphere 👌
Martin Gonzalez Ramirez: Honestly the best restaurant we dined in in the whole of Peru. The food was exquisite and it was an added bonus to be able to go inside the kitchen and see how the cook following the traditional ways. A superb experience.
Bennett Reiss: Words do not do justice to the majestic beauty and special mix of Andean and Ancient energies of this city. Sonccollay overlooks the ancient Plaza de Armas of Arequipa. The food is absolutely delicious. I ate there three days in a row during my time in Arequipa. I tried the Alpaca, Cuy (Guinea Pig) and Ceviche dishes. Don't be confused. You can eat all these dishes in other places in Peru but at Sonccollay they are prepared the way people ate them before the Inca Empire conquered the various pre-Columbian cultures that existed around the Andes in ancient times. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you visit Arequipa. The entrance is at the corner of the Plaza and don't be surprised if you don't find people standing outside trying to convince you to come in like all the other restaurants in the Plaza. This restaurant follows the rules and does not hire people to illegally coerce you to come inside. The food, first class service and beautiful ambiance
Anamaria Morillo: I want to go back to Arequipa. The taste of the alpaca is still in my memory... and many other experiences.Regards Walter
Kathia Velasque: Excellent! 😊
vasek slavik: One of the strongest gastronomy experience ever!
David: Comi em 2005 e adorei. Feliz por saber que ainda existe.
Enrique Loayza: Restaurant with a good ancestral menu and exquisite dishes that date back to pre-Inca times. The renowned chef Walter Bustamante is a full student of pre-Inca cuisine who has transmitted all his interest to the food of his locality. All its ingredients are natural and almost no dressings or chemicals. Walter invites you to his kitchen and delights you with his flavors in his restaurant with a beautiful view of the Plaza de Armas.
